Origin
Hungary, the centre of Lowlands, Szolnok and the direct area of it. It was bred crossing with
carriers, dragons and homer pigeons in 1920s. Description of breed standard was accepted in
1954.
General Appearance
Strong body is stout and bigger than homer pigeons. Main characteristic features are its head,
position and its intensive colour.
Structure of body, posture
Medium tall standing, strong pigeon. It has a bit oblong body, with mildly raised chest. Weight
of full blown pigeons are between 600-650 gramm.
Head
Stronger than the medium one, forehead cambers intensly, it forms straight line with the beak.
Top of the head is cambered, it does not flat, running back to neck with nice sweep. Head is
always smooth.
Eye and eye ceres
They has intense, fierce sight. White types have dark vetch, in the case of other ones are
orange. Eye ceres are wide and two- rowed. Colour of eye ceres is transition between white and
yellow. They are smooth weaved, and are not rough.
Beak
A bit downward, thick, boksz-like, 30 mm long, the upper beak edge tends to the lower one, but
it closes with it box-like. Wattles are oblong, triangular, mildly turgid, symmetrically divided, flat
and white. White types of pigeons have mildly pink beak, the others have cream coloured one.
Marking at the upper edge of the beak is accepted in the case of black, blue and peachy pigeons.
Neck
Medium lenght and thickness, its position is vertical. It is moderately extenuated towards the
head. Arch of throat is small.
Chest
Wide, full, but it does not stand forth.
Back
It is strong, wide, steadily tapered towards the tail. It is steadily slopes with the line of tail.
Wings
Strong, close-fitting. Pens pillowed on quill-feather, do not cross each other and nearly reach
the end of the feathering of tail.
Tail
Narrow, running down, it creats straight line with the back, does not touch the ground.
Legs
Medium lenght, strong, scarlet colour, no feather in them, mildly sinking position. Claws are
light.
Feather
Rich, dense, bright, close fitting.
Colour of feather: Aknowledged as shining self-coloured: black, white, yellow, red, chocolate
brown (oil-like colour everywhere on their body, only the end of the quillsis light brown), peachy
(nearly same as the chocolate brown, except the end of the tail and the quill, because they are
livid) and self- coloured silver. Patchiness is not allowed.
Moderate failures
Steeper position than would be right, slightly unequel, mildly standing forth surface of wattle,
flatly cambered arch of throat.
Bad faults
Rough, big body, low position, easy feathuring, hollow, broken arched horehead line of beak,
thin, flat head. The beak is narrow, short, its position is horisontal, irregularly closed. Eye cere is
different from the requirements regarding its colour, it is rugged. Long neck or arched position,
chest cambers ahead intensly, dropped wings, wide or long tail. Pale, matt feathering. Colourful
pigeons have white feather.
